KindHearts
Launches $3.3 Million Campaign to Build Houses for Earthquake
Survivors 1,000 Permanent Homes Under Construction in Town
of Kiwai.
KindHearts has launched a "Brick
Houses" campaign to raise $3.3 million over the next
six months to construct 1,000 brick houses in the town of
Kiwai near Balakot. KindHearts has teamed up with Junaid Jamshed,
the former Pakistani Pop Star and now reformed spiritual figure,
and Saeed Anwar, a one-time Pakistani Cricket team captain.
The project, which is currently proceeding, will accommodate
between 7,000 and 9,000 earthquake survivors, and is in cooperation
with the Junaid Jamshed Foundation, and under the direct supervision
of Br. Junaid Jamshed and Br. Saeed Anwar.
Br. Muazzam, a local landlord who lost his 23-year-old
brother in the tragedy, and who—along with his mother and
sister—was seriously injured himself, has donated the land
where the homes are being built. A reputable architectural
firm is designing the houses in accordance with special local
needs. Each house will consist of two rooms, a kitchen,
bathroom and a small front yard, and cost $3,300, thereby
providing a permanent residence for a family of seven to ten
people.
Pakistan's northern areas are already suffering under harsh
winter weather conditions with snow and below zero wind-chills.
According to the Washington Post, there are more than 100,000
people who are still without shelter, and must face the cold
nights without even so much as a blanket. Under these extreme
conditions, if desperately needed help does not arrive in
time, many of` them will die from pneumonia, flu, and other
weather related conditions within weeks. Some of them may
simply freeze to death!
To this end, KindHearts is moving quickly to build the necessary
brick houses, which will provide protection from the elements
for surviving victims of the earthquake. Truly, this is the
barest minimum that we can do to help these already grieving
families who are suffering from a host of diseases due to
lack of food, sanitation and clean water.
Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Shah, the President of KindHearts' South
Asia Division, toured more than ten cities in ten days, along
with Brs. Junaid Jamshed and Saeed Anwar, raising $1.5 million
in checks and pledges. Donors are requested to contribute
generously, so that together we can put solid, safe roofs
over the heads of thousands of homeless children and families.
Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Shah will again be leaving for Pakistan on
December 11, 2005. While there, he will visit KindHearts'
ongoing projects, and expedite financial aid that is imminently
required because of winter's arrival.
In March 2006, Brs. Junaid Jamshed and Saeed Anwar will return
to the US, along with the Pakistani Cricket team's Vice-Captain,
Mohammad Yousaf (the former Yousaf Yohanna). Thought to be
the backbone of the current Pakistani Cricket team, Mohammad
Yousaf recently scored the highest number of runs of his career
against the visiting English Cricket team in Qaddafi Stadium,
Lahore.
This impressive trio of celebrities will be traveling across
America and Canada during March 2006 to raise funds for the
Brick Houses. KindHearts invites all community leaders to
contact our office to obtain a program list for their visit.
Individuals, mosques, or groups can sponsor the construction
of any number of these houses over a period of six to 12 months.
These houses may also be dedicated to the memory of a loved
one, or in the name of their family, mosque or organization.

KindHearts Constructing Temporary
Fiberglass Shelters
In coordination with Sahara for Life Foundation, KindHearts
has already put up 200 fiberglass houses in the Kashmir area,
at a cost of $370 each. Indus Corporation of Multan manufactures
these lightweight fiberglass houses. Being totally portable,
they are the preferred method of emergency shelter for four
to six people because they can be assembled within 20 to 30
minutes, and are good, temporary sources of protection from
severe weather and cold. Pakistan needs two million of these
homes for Kashmir and Hazara District in the immediate future,
which are constructed of fiberglass over a steel structure,
and measure ten feet by eight feet.
A price list for these shelters follows, and as in contributions
for the Brick Houses, donors may give their gift amount over
a period of six to 12 months.

Sponsor an Orphan for $100 per
Month
When you generously sponsor an orphan for only $100 a month,
you provide that child with not only food and clothing, but
also a place to live, and an education—both secular and
Islamic. Optionally, a monthly sponsorship of just $60 will
provide a needy orphan with nutritious food and warm clothing.
